The Flash Season 1 Review

The Fastest Man Alive himself, The Flash. The show is based on the superhero from the DC comics. The Flash is the second hit show in the Arrowverse Universe. Following the success of Arrow, the CW takes on yet another great challenge. The CW actually put Barry Allen in a few episodes of Arrow as a little side character before he got his powers to introduce him officially before the show even aired. It stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen aka The Flash. Compared to Arrow’s dark tone, The Flash is a bit more light hearted and funny show, but does have its moments. From the first episode on the show reals you in and makes it very hard to stop watching. You learn about who Barry Allen is and about his dark past. When he was 11 years old his mother was murdered mysteriously and the police charged his father for the murder. This event changed his life and shapes him into the man that he becomes later on in life. He gets taken in by family friend Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and his daughter and Barry’s friend Iris West (Candice Patton). Barry knows in his heart that his father is innocent but no one believes him. All of his life he has been chasing after the thing that murdered his mother but he knows that he will never catch it. Later on he joins the Police Force as a CSI assistant to track down his mothers’ killer. Then one day his life changed for the better when a Particle Accelerator was built by Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) and the rest of the staff from STAR Labs that went horribly wrong and created a lightning bolt that struck Barry Allen. Due to the explosion a lot of Dark Matter was released and affected many people including Barry giving him his powers. After the incident Central City is never the same. Barry wakes from a coma and decides to use these powers for good and to protect the city with the help of STAR Labs former employees Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlyn Frost (Danielle Panabaker). Throughout the season you see how much the Particle Accelerator affected the city, there are new Meta-Humans that attack the city and only Barry is fast enough to stop them! You slowly start to discover what really happened the night of the Particle Accelerator explosion and what really happened the night of Barry’s mother’s murder. It keeps you guessing the whole season and the reveal is quite shocking. I would highly suggest this, you can find this in your local stores such as Walmart or BestBuy or on Netflix!

Arrow Season 1 Review

The CW television hit series Arrow was the first superhero show that was a huge hit and the beginning of a much larger universe (Arrowverse as it is called). The show is based on the DC comics superhero Green Arrow. The show stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen aka “Arrow“. From the first episode on, this show immediately brings you in. It dives right into the backstory of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell)  and about how he was stranded on the mysterious island of Lian Yu when his fathers boat mysteriously sunk. Oliver was the only survivor. He was finally rescued 5 years later and returned to his hometown Starling City. Before the “accident” Oliver Queen was just your ordinary billionaire playboy. With the help of his fathers money, he was involved in the party scene, drug use, and constant disregard for the law along with his best friend Tommy Merlin (Colin Donnell) and ex girlfriend Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). You learn more about what kind of man Oliver has become and how it has changed his legacy because of the island and what will happen to his relationships with his mother, sister, step-father, and friends. Throughout the season you slowly start to see how the “accident” happened and see more about what happened to Oliver on the island. The cool thing about this show is that there are two plots going on at once. The main plot which is happening in real time and also what really happened on the island by way of flashbacks. The season keeps you on the edge of your seat because you see who the old Oliver Queen was compared to the man he is now because to the island. Throughout you learn that there are many dangers that lie in the streets and the Oliver is the only person who can stop them. He must become something else to stop the crime wave that has plagued Starling City and to keep the promise he made to his father to stop anyone who has failed this city at all costs. I would highly suggest this and you can find this season in stores such as Walmart or BestBuy, but it is also on Netflix.
